Sponsorship and adoption schemes - Help the Aged's Sponsor a Grandparent programme
The Sponsor a Grandparent programme was set up over 30 years ago and now helps over 25,000 older people across Africa, Asia, Latin America and the Caribbean.
Sponsor's money helps to provide their grandparent, and the older people in their project, with basic items such as food, shelter, clothing and medicine.
It is also used to help develop long-term solutions, for example providing clean water or setting up income generation schemes.
Sponsors, who give £3 a week, receive a photograph of their grandparent and regular reports from the project explaining the changes their help is making possible. They also receive Sponsor a Grandparent News three times a year with the programme's news and developments.
