There are between 4,500 and 5,000 voluntary organisations in Northern Ireland.

The income is concentrated in a few large organisations. 50% of the sector’s income is accounted for by just 5% of organisations 

The sector generated a total income in 2003/4 of £614 million.

A typical adult in Northern Ireland donates £12.72 per month.
